Everything started with… what a wonder… an idea! After living in my new apartment for more then half a year i finally got an idea on how to design a part of the wallpaper in the stairway. I will paint barcodes over the doors to the diffrent rooms. First one: living room.
6 phases are neccessary:
- tape the area
- tape a set of stripes
- paint stripes white to fill gaps between tape and wall
- paint stripes black (twice)
- take tape for the stripes from the wall, go to phase 2 as long as not all are painted black (Todo: Add a funny joke about “paint it black” from the Rolling Stones)
- look at what you’ve done, man!
Ok, seems fairly easy but having done the first loop i can say: Its an aweful lot of work. The result so far looks pretty promising though.

Current state: Im not quite done yet. I need to buy a kickass dark red for the last stripe and have to paint a little white and black on spots where the stripe isn’t square enough
