T2000 told me about OpenStreetMap, an open source project for providing free street maps and more… well see here.
I ordered a GPS mouse and managed to get it working with my PowerBook using gpsdX and the Prolific drivers to get /dev/tty.usbserial working.
Anyways, its working great and I already uploaded some street information. More will come
